Introduction

As seen in the previous section of the course, a risk assessment allows you to identify risks and decide upon appropriate control measures – yet this information is redundant without being put into practice.

A health and safety policy is needed to ensure that your findings are summarised into key action points and guidance notes that workers should then be instructed to follow in order to protect their health and safety whilst at work.

To help with this, this section of the course looks at the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘Plan, Do, Check, Act’ framework, which can be used as the basis for developing an effective health and safety policy.
